YANKTON, S.D.  – The Bulldogs continue their dominance over the Lancers with a sweep (7-0) in Yankton, S.D. The Concordia University, Nebraska Women’s Tennis team got ahead early and finished without giving up a set to Mount Marty in the dual. Freshman Nina Milic picked up her first dual singles win as a Bulldog.

Head Coach Lisa Hart moves to 3-0 versus the Lancers as the leader of the women’s team and is 2-1 on the season.

“Proud of how we came out in doubles and kept our foot on the gas pedal,” said Coach Hart. “Excited for our team to keep progressing - it’s fun to watch them get better every week! Go Dawgs!”

No. 1s Mariana Molano and Ishane Derman kicked off the dual making quick work of Anna Ribeiro and Maria Luisa (6-2). Needing one more set for the doubles point, No. 2s Alana Lopez Pagan and Chakira Derman answered the bell taking down Maria Azul and Alessandra Lopez (6-3) to clinch the first tally. Alexa Richert and Tessa Blough at No. 3, didn’t take their opponents Alexandra Salazar and Camila Lopez lightly finishing off tandem play with a sweep (6-3).

In singles, No. 4 Ishane clinched the match win defeating Salazar in straight sets (6-2, 6-0). No. 2 Chakira came out with a strong will to win and snuffed out Azul (6-1, 6-0) only giving up one game in the contest. After a tough first set, No. 1 Molano gained the first singles point (6-4, 1-0) after Ribeiro retired.

With the Bulldogs having the road victory solidified, No. 3 Lopez Pagan prevailed in a battle tested 6-4, 6-4 triumph over Luisa. No. 6 Milic kept the momentum going and came out strong over Alessandra in both sets (6-0, 6-1). Richert at No. 5, finished the sweep with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Camila and took her 11th career singles victory.

Concordia (2-1) will come back to Seward for its first home dual against Ottawa University (0-1) out of Kansas. The two teams will compete on Thursday (Feb. 20) at 11 a.m. CT in the Walz Fieldhouse. Last season, the Braves defeated the Bulldogs 6-1 in Lawrence, Kan.
