NAIA Women’s Tennis Conference Rankings

SEWARD, Neb. – The Concordia University Women’s Tennis team has landed at No. 3 in the GPAC preseason rating. Rankings for all NAIA women’s tennis conferences were unveiled on Monday (Jan. 25) by the NAIA. The Bulldogs checked in behind Doane and College of Saint Mary. No GPAC team garnered votes in the NAIA preseason national poll.

Third-year Head Coach David DeSimone’s women’s program finished 2020 with an overall mark of 6-3 before the season was shut down due to COVID-19. The campaign ended prior to the start of conference play. Back in 2019, Concordia placed third in the GPAC regular-season standings (5-2 league record) and then advanced to the GPAC tournament title match (runner up to Hastings). Notable veteran returners incude the likes of Tara Ferrel, Ansley Gates and Claudia Miranda Viera.

The 2020-21 season officially started back in the fall. The Bulldogs earned a 5-2 win over NCAA Division II William Jewell College (Mo.) and competed in two individual bracket style events – the GPAC Tournament and the ITA Central Regional Championships. The season is slated to resume on Feb. 20 with a match at Sterling College (Kan.).
