
SEWARD, Neb. – Concordia University, Nebraska Women’s Tennis will travel to Orange City, Iowa and face off against Northwestern in its only match this week. The Bulldogs defeated the College of Saint Mary on their way to a 10th consecutive triumph. Morningside escaped with a 4-3 win over the home squad in the clash for the top of the standings.

Head Coach Lisa Hart and company have amassed an 11-2 record and a 2-1 GPAC slate. With three conference matches remaining, the Bulldogs will look to finish the rest of the GPAC season unbeaten.
In Concordia’s 10th straight win, it dominantly defeated CSM with a 7-0 whipping. Tessa Blough and Alexa Richert defeated their opponents (6-4) to clinch the doubles point after a No. 3s forfeit. All five singles won in decisive fashion in a lineup that included No. 1 Mariana Molano, No. 2 Chakira Derman, No. 3 Ishane Derman, No. 4 Alana Lopez Pagan and No. 5 Richert.
The power duo of Blough and Richert continued to out match their opponents and defeated the Mustangs (6-3) in their No. 3 doubles slot. The two have a combined doubles record of 7-5 and are on a four-match win streak as a pair. The deciding doubles point seemed to slip through the hands of the Bulldogs, falling 5-7 at No. 1s and 2s. The Bulldogs would have three wins in singles, coming up just shy (3-4) in the team points. No. 6 Blough defeated her opponent in straight sets, 6-0, 6-4, moving her record to 2-2 in singles.
Mariana Molano went 2-0 on the weekend and had the best win of her collegiate career defeating 16th-ranked Line Jensen (MSIDE), 6-1, 4-6, 6-4. Molano has her 10th win of the season and the 34th of her career.
Chakira Derman went 2-0 this past week with wins over the Flames and Mustangs in singles. Chakira defeated her opponents 24 games to six. She ties her sister, Ishane, for the most singles wins (11) in 2025. With the win over Brooke Marshall, the Southeast transfer has 20 career singles victories as a Dawg.
Since the beginning of the GPAC era, CUNE has bested the Red Raiders with a 16-7 overall record. In the past 10 matches, the Dawgs are unbeaten with a 10-0 record and haven’t seen a loss since April 25, 2015 in Orange City. In the undefeated stretch, Concordia has a 60-14 overall point showing over the Iowa side.
Opponent
Northwestern has yet to play a conference match but will open against Morningside on Wednesday. So far, the Red Raiders have totaled a .500 winning percentage on a 6-6 overall showing. They broke a four match skid with a win over Central College (Iowa), 5-2. Pietra Ferreira at No. 1, has a 7-5 record on the season as a freshman.

Concordia has two matches against next week against Hastings and a non-conference bout against previous GPAC member Nebraska Wesleyan University. The Bulldogs will host the Broncos in Seward and will travel to Lincoln to compete against the Prairie Wolves.
