
SEWARD, Neb. – Mariana Molano claimed the Bulldogs' second weekly award as announced by the league office on Wednesday (March 26). Molano was honored with the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women's Tennis Player of the Week after going unbeaten in all three matches. She joins Chakira Derman (March 12) in earning the accomplishment this year and grabs the second of her career.
The Bulldogs didn’t give up a point in their three matches versus Kansas Wesleyan University, Avila University (Mo.), and Mount Marty. No. 1 Molano, a junior out of Bogota, Colombia, dominated all three of her opponents, only giving up four games in the trifecta. She tag-teamed with freshman phenom Ishane Derman to defeat their competitors in all three No. 1 doubles bouts (6-2, 6-0, 6-0).
The Aspaen Gimnasio Iragua alum has an 8-3 singles record in 2024, with two losses coming in tiebreakers. The 2024 All-GPAC player has totaled a 32-13 record all in the No. 1 slot for the Bulldogs since her freshman season. She has a career doubles record of 25-12.
Concordia is set to face College of Saint Mary today at 1 p.m. CT. The Dawgs will take on the Flames at the Genesis Westroads in Omaha, Neb.
