Concordia Women’s Tennis competed in two tournaments this past weekend at the Salina Central High School Tennis Courts. Kansas Wesleyan University hosted its invitational and the NAIA Central-West ITA Regional Championship.
Before becoming a successful coach, Audra (Nothwehr) Anderson developed foundational skills as a Concordia Bulldog. Said the former NIAC Player of the Year of her experience, "Concordia really did become my family."
The Concordia Women’s Tennis team made a quick trip to face off against NCAA Division III Nebraska Wesleyan University. The Bulldogs were able to climb out of an early season hole with five straight singles wins in their road victory.
Winner of the 2024 Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award, Tessa Blough enjoyed a once-in-a-lifetime experience to soak up the US Open in New York City. In doing so, Blough realized a "dream of mine."

Four Bulldogs from the Concordia Women’s Tennis program have been honored as 2024 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes. The list includes Tessa Blough, Gabrielle Heiser, Brooke Hosick and Mariana Molano.
Junior Tessa Blough earned the Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Central Regional Award from the ITA. In addition, both Concordia Tennis teams garnered recognition for community service.
Top-of-the-lineup stalwarts Chakira Derman and Mariana Molano highlighted a list of five Bulldogs chosen to the 2024 GPAC All-Conference teams. Other award winners are Tessa Blough, Alana Lopez Pagan and Alexa Richert.
Based on the final month of the 2017 season, Concordia women’s tennis appears that it may be ready for a breakthrough. Led by senior Annie Horn, the Bulldogs have hopes of moving beyond the GPAC semifinals.
A native of Denver, Colo., Annie Horn has brought a big city game to Concordia. The standout senior is coming off a junior season that saw her win 15 singles matches and go undefeated against GPAC opponents.
The 2016 Bulldogs were made up of almost exclusively freshmen and sophomores. A year later, Coach Joel Reckewey has a much more experienced roster led by the likes of Alison Ebel, Annie Horn and Kayla Smock.
Despite the young athletes on the Concordia women’s tennis team, the Bulldogs proved to be a GPAC contender in the 2016 season. The team, made up of freshmen and sophomores, went 5-3 in the conference this year.
