Now a Concordia graduate, Bulldog tennis student-athlete Kirsten Wagner has been named winner of the NAIA Central Regional Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award.
Due to the current pandemic, Concordia's spring sports seniors did not enjoy a proper sendoff. In lieu of a normal senior day, we are recognizing the 2020 class of Concordia women's tennis seniors.
A couple of singles matches were close calls, but Concordia managed to win them all in a 9-0 team victory over Simpson College on Thursday (March 12). The Bulldogs finished their spring break on a high note.
The margin was razor thin on Wednesday (March 11) as Concordia met up with Central College in Pella, Iowa. The NCAA Division III foe held off the Bulldogs, 5-4, in a hotly contested match.
In a match highlighted by three three-set tiebreakers in singles play, the Bulldogs emerged with a 7-2 victory at Coe College. Concordia is in the midst of playing four-straight NCAA D-III foes.
Undefeated Grinnell College swept all doubles and singles matches while handing the Bulldogs a 9-0 defeat on Sunday (March 8). Concordia will play three more NCAA Division III foes this week.
After dropping the team point in doubles, the Concordia women’s team won four singles matches and rallied to claim victory at home on Friday (March 6). The back end of the lineup came through to lift the Bulldogs.
After enduring its first loss of the season a week earlier, the Concordia women’s tennis team rebounded on Saturday (Feb. 29) by claiming victory at Bethel College.
The doubles combo of junior Ansley Gates and senior Lindee Schultz emerged with a 6-4 win while in action on Friday (Feb. 21). Sterling came away with a 7-0 team victory in Lincoln.
For the first time in 2020, Concordia women's tennis put its depth on display. The result on Saturday (Feb. 8) was a 6-1 win over Grand View. The Bulldogs moved to 2-0 having also beaten William Jewell.
