While hosting for the first time during the 2022-23 season, the Bulldogs defeated Iowa Central Community College, 5-2, while taking two doubles and four singles matches. Concordia moved to 1-1 on the year.
Championships were claimed at a singles/doubles bracket-style GPAC tournament by Kylie Freudenburg in flight D singles and by Tessa Blough and Alana Lopez Pagan in flight A doubles. Nine total Bulldogs competed.
A lineup full of new faces performed solidly as the Bulldogs made their fall 2022 debut on Tuesday (Sept. 13) with a 4-3 loss at Bethel College. Concordia fell despite winning the doubles point in action in North Newton, Kan.
Concordia Women's Tennis and five of its team members were honored on July 14 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association with academic awards. The Bulldogs earned All-Academic Team recognition from the ITA.
Sofia Morales again landed All-GPAC singles and doubles recognition at the No. 1 position while teammate Tessa Blough also was named an all-conference performer. Morales went 6-1 in GPAC singles matches in 2022.
The 2022 season is in the books after the Bulldogs endured a 4-0 loss at the hands of College of Saint Mary in the GPAC Quarterfinals on Friday (April 29). As the No. 5 seed in the GPAC, Concordia finished with an overall record of 6-11.
As the No. 5 seed in the GPAC tournament, the Bulldogs will take on fourth-seeded College of Saint Mary in the quarterfinals on Friday. All matches have been moved indoors due to projected rain in the forecast.
In the final home match of her career, Megan Hakes earned a singles win and helped the Bulldogs to a 5-2 team victory over Nebraska Wesleyan. The result puts Concordia with six overall wins heading into the GPAC tournament.
In the close to the GPAC regular season, the Bulldogs fell at Doane by a 6-1 score. As a highlight for Concordia, Sofia Morales won at No. 1 singles and doubles. Concordia will enter the postseason at 3-4 in GPAC play.
A fine week at No. 1 singles and doubles allowed Sofia Morales to claim the GPAC Player of the Week award for the second time in her career. The native of Bogotá, Colombia, has gone 6-1 this season in GPAC singles matches.
