Concordia chose a sunny 60 degree day in February to match up with Kansas Wesleyan University at the Grand Island Tennis Center on Thursday morning. The Bulldogs won four straight points for the early clinch and picked up one more victory in the 5-2 triumph.
The Concordia Women’s Tennis team faced off against Ottawa University (Kan.) on Friday afternoon (Feb. 16). The Bulldogs couldn’t keep up with the Braves, falling 1-6 in their fourth dual of the season.
With a chance for Concordia to grab a shorter trip to face Baker University (Kan.), the Bulldogs traveled to the Fremont Family YMCA on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 10). CUNE took full advantage of the Wildcats for a 6-1 victory in their third dual of the season.
The Bulldogs collected their first win of the 2023-24 season, after traveling to Mount Marty on Friday (Feb. 9). Concordia took the doubles point, and the team victory (6-1) over the Lancers in Yankton, S.D.
On the heels of a solid 13-9 overall mark (4-3 GPAC) in 2022-23, the Bulldogs have transitioned under the direction of new Head Coach Lisa Hart. Four All-GPAC award winners return to the lineup in 2024.
The Concordia Tennis programs have announced their schedules for the spring of 2024. As of Thursday, Dec. 7, the upcoming women’s slate includes 16 dual matches, including seven official GPAC conference contests.
The Bulldogs would fight to compete with the division II William Jewell and No. 1 Charika Derman would relish a big time singles victory and her first dual win as a Bulldog.
The Bulldogs traveled to Salina, Kansas and competed in the NAIA Central-West ITA Regional Championships the past few days (Sept. 24-26).
The Bulldogs competed in the GPAC fall individual tournament on Friday and Saturday (Sept. 15&16).
Concordia women’s tennis team opened their 2023-24 season at the Bethany College Invitational this past weekend (Sept. 8&9).
The 2016 Bulldogs were made up of almost exclusively freshmen and sophomores. A year later, Coach Joel Reckewey has a much more experienced roster led by the likes of Alison Ebel, Annie Horn and Kayla Smock.
Despite the young athletes on the Concordia women’s tennis team, the Bulldogs proved to be a GPAC contender in the 2016 season. The team, made up of freshmen and sophomores, went 5-3 in the conference this year.
