Bulldog wrestling competes at Raven Duals
ATCHISON, Kan. – Concordia grapplers competed at the first-ever Raven Duals on Saturday at Benedictine College’s Ralph Nolan Gymnasium. The Bulldogs won their first match of the day before taking their lumps against quality opponents in the final three dual meets in Atchison, Kan.
Concordia defeated NJCAA Northwest Kansas Technical College 33-19 in a bout that began at 8 a.m. The Bulldogs then fell 30-9 to NAIA Wayland Baptist (Texas), 47-0 to NCAA Division II Fort Hays State (Kan.) and 33-7 to NAIA No. 13-ranked Missouri Baptist to conclude the event. All three losses came to teams either ranked or receiving votes in the national rankings.
Senior Brandon Starkey (149), freshman Austin Starkey (157) and sophomore Seth Crane (184) each went 2-2 on the day to lead the Bulldogs. With his two triumphs, Austin Starkey reached the 10-win plateau for the season, while Brandon Starkey and Crane both have nine victories.
The Raven Duals also featured NAIA No. 6 Morningside, No. 20 York (Neb.), host (RV) Benedictine (Kan.), (RV) Central Baptist (Ark.) and (RV) Truett-McConnell (Ga.).

Concordia is now idle until Jan. 10 when Briar Cliff visits Seward for a 7 p.m. GPAC-opening dual.
