Bulldogs sign JUCO All-American Alfred Torres
The Concordia University wrestling program is excited to announce the signing of Alfred Torres of Pomona, California.
Torres attended Montclair High School in Montclair, California. As a prep wrestler, he was a Master’s qualifier after posting a 33-6 record.
At Mt. San Antonio College, Torres placed 4th in the California Community College Athletic Association Wrestling Championships at Victory Valley College to earn All-American honors at 174 pounds.
Torres was named Mt. SAC’s Most Outstanding Wrestler for the 2010 season. He was also named a scholar athlete at both high school and JUCO levels. Torres is expected to compete for the Bulldogs at either 165 or 174 pounds next season.
"We are excited to have Alfred join us," said head coach Doug Reese. "Coach Larry Watanabe at Mt. SAC has an outstanding junior college program, and we are blessed to have both Julian Silva and Frank Ayala, who are Mt. San Antonio graduates. Julian and Frank have had productive seasons for us. These Mt. SAC wrestlers have fit in well at Concordia and are great team members. Torres is another great addition to the lineup.”
