Concordia splits GPAC wrestling duals
The Concordia wrestling team split a pair of GPAC duals on Wednesday night at Hastings.
"After the GPAC championships, these duals only provide a couple of positive things to our team," noted head coach Doug Reese. "First, it provides and opportunity for our younger guys to get into the line up and compete in a varsity dual. Second, it provides an opportunity to keep the weight under control with a weigh-in. Third, it benefits our guys to help their seeding at the regional tournament. Fourth, we were able to rest some guys who are banged up a bit at this time of the season. We were able to achieve those goals tonight."

197 - Julian Silva (CU) won by decision vs. Tyler Kacmarynski (MC)
285 - Frank Ayala (CU) won by fall in 2:45 vs. Tyler Thompson (MC)
"We reached a goal in this dual with Silva avenging a one-point loss to Kacmarynski in the semifinals of the GPAC championships,” said Reese. “We will have the edge in seeding going into the regional next week with this win. Silva dominated the match with four takedowns.”
“Ayala pinned Thompson, who is ranked #8 in the NAIA,” added Reese. “That was a big win for Frank, and it sets him up for a nice seeding position next weekend.”
