Idaho standout signs with CU Wrestling

Concordia University wrestling is pleased to announce the signing of Mitch Thompson of Rigby, Idaho.

Thompson had an outstanding prep career placing three times in the Idaho State Wrestling Championships. As a freshman Thompson placed 6th, 3rd as a sophomore, and 3rd as a junior. His senior season was cut short due to a staph infection that kept him from defending his No. 1 ranking in the state tournament. Thompson finished his career with an incredible 132-15 record.

Thompson has quite a lot of experience in the international styles of wrestling in both Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling. He has won titles in both styles in the USA Wrestling/Idaho state wrestling championships. Thompson won a national title in the USA Deaf Wrestling Association national championships.

A transfer from Idaho State University, Thompson has a budding MMA career in front of him. He is currently 4-1 in the ring.

Mitch Thompson is expected to have an impact on the Bulldog wrestling line-up at 149 pounds.

"Mitch is a tough and talented wrestler," commented Coach Doug Reese. "His accomplishments speak loudly of his talent and commitment to the sport. I am very excited to have Mitch join us, he will raise the level of intensity in the wrestling room every practice. He will be fun to coach."
