SEWARD, Neb. – This Thursday, Feb 4., The Bulldogs will host York College (Neb.) in a head to head rematch, on senior night. The dual will start at 7 p.m. CT. Going into this dual the team currently stands at 5-10 overall (3-5 GPAC). Last time Concordia wrestled York on Oct. 30, York won 30-19 at home.
Last time these two teams met up, York had won six of the ten weight classes: 125, 133, 141, 149, 157 and 184. Concordia had four wrestlers win last time these two teams met: Jose Sanchez at 165, Timothy Huber at 174, Mason Garcia at 197 and Jacob Telles at 285.
This week, there is going to be six nationally ranked wrestlers. York has three nationally ranked wrestlers, No. 10 Harley Williamson at 125, No. 13 Pierce Mederios at 133, No. 4 John Fox at 141. The Panthers have dual record of 7-3 and compete as a part of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Confrence. The Bulldogs also have three ranked wrestlers, No. 8 Mario Yabarra at 133, No. 20 Issiah Burks at 157, and No. 17 Jacob Telles at 285.

The senior night ceremony will happen prior to the start of the dual. The presentation will honor the seniors for all their contributions in representing Concordia on and off the mat. The three seniors that are being honored are Gabe Crawford, Oscar Ramirez-Garcia and Cyrus Marshall.
These three seniors were members of the 2019-2020 GPAC Championship team. Crawford is from Virginia Beach, Va., and is majoring in history. During his time here as a Bulldog he wrestled three different weight classes (149/157/165). Over his career as a Bulldog, he accumulated a record of 41 – 34 and four pins. Crawford won the conference title at 157 in 2020, while also qualifying for the NAIA Nationals Tournament.
Ramirez- Garcia, is from Beaumont, Calif. He transferred to Concordia, from Palomar College in 2019 after earning his associate degree in criminal justice. He is currently pursuing his bachelor’s degree in business administration come this May. Marshall is from Columbus, Neb. He is currently pursuing his degree in biology. Along with being apart of the 2019-2020 championship team, he wrestled four different weight classes for the Bulldogs (165/174/184/197).
Following this week’s dual against York, the Bulldog wrestlers will be heading to Sioux City, Iowa to compete in the Dave Edmonds Open.
