SEWARD, Neb. – The Concordia University wrestling program has become a regular on the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) list of NAIA All-Academic Teams. The Bulldogs checked in at No. 10 on the 2018 ranking released on Monday (April 23) by the NWCA. The group of Concordia wrestlers submitted towards the NWCA ranking combined for a 3.11 grade point average.
In addition to a No. 10 All-Academic Team ranking in 2018, the Bulldog wrestling program landed at No. 6 in 2017, No. 5 in 2016 and No. 9 in 2014. The 2016-17 squad also had five of its team members appear on the NWCA list of All-Academic Individuals. The standout scholar on the 2018 squad is junior Walker Fisher, winner of 2018 NAIA Scholar-Athlete accolades.
Concordia wrestling will have a new leader this coming season. Levi Calhoun was announced as head coach on April 11. He has spent three seasons as an assistant coach for the Bulldogs.
