Five Bulldogs represented Concordia Wrestling at the Dave Edmonds Invite and came away with a combined seven wins on Saturday (Feb. 4). Teegan Tschampel led the way by placing fourth at 184 pounds.
In celebrating senior night in style, the Bulldogs white-washed Colby Community College, 49-4, and York, 44-6, on Thursday (Feb. 2). The results allowed the 2022-23 team to equal the program record for most dual wins in a single season.
In its final home appearance of the 2022-23 season, Concordia Wrestling will host Colby Community College and York University on Thursday. As part of the triangular, the Bulldogs will honor three seniors.
Thanks to a 3-0 mark at the GPAC Day of Duals on Saturday (Jan. 29), the Bulldogs moved up to third place in the final regular season standings. Concordia defeated Northwestern, Briar Cliff and Jamestown as part of the weekend event.
The second and final GPAC Day of Duals for the 2022-23 season is on tap for Saturday at the Long Lines Family Recreation Center in Sioux City, Iowa. The Bulldogs will wrestle Northwestern, Briar Cliff and Jamestown.
While taking part in a premier NAIA wrestling tournament, 12 Bulldogs combined for 12 victories at the Missouri Valley Invite (Jan. 20-21). The major highlights included Creighton Bauman's run to the quarterfinals and four wins for Tommy Wentz.
As part of a high level NAIA tournament, Concordia will enter 12 wrestlers into competition. The Missouri Valley College Invitational is slated to include 44 NAIA programs and will unfold Friday and Saturday in Marshall, Mo.
A strong Friedrich Arena crowd bolstered by the presence of the Seward Wrestling Club watched fourth-ranked Doane display its dominance in a 44-0 win. The Bulldogs slipped to 8-2 overall (3-2 GPAC).
A battle between teams with a combined dual record of 21-2 will go head-to-head on Friday inside Friedrich Arena. It will be Seward Wrestling Club night as Concordia hosts fourth-ranked Doane. The Bulldogs are 8-1 overall.
Three weeks after hosting the Bulldog Duals, Concordia returned to action at the Hastings Open and totaled 11 wins among its 11 competitors. Multiple victories were earned by Jose Sanchez, Jeaven Scdoris, Grant Wells and Tommy Wentz.
Rarely, if ever, has success been set on a tee for Jerry Stepps III to smash out of the ballpark. Rather, it’s been quite the opposite in some cases. It never stopped Jerry from dreaming big or making it big as a senior.
Ceron Francisco will go down as an all-time great Bulldog for the way he has handled himself on and off the mat. A national runner up back in March, Ceron is headed to Charlottesville to join the Cavalier Wrestling Club.

Ceron Francisco has gone from a fascination – largely because of his stature and physical appearance separated him – to an obvious fan favorite and to one of the most respected student-athletes at Concordia.
This isn’t exactly the way Ken Burkhardt Jr. planned it. First recruited to Concordia as a linebacker on the football team, Burkhardt Jr. has become an accomplished wrestler and owner of the most wins in program history.
As Kodie Cole himself puts it, "I might have a little different story than others." There's a lot of story left to be told for Cole, who has taken a winding path to being ranked No. 1 in the nation at 133 pounds.
Concordia University wrestling has a new leader in Andrew Nicola, but expectations remain sky high. Behind a talented senior class, the Bulldogs are again the favorite in the GPAC and in the region.
Andrew Nicola, most recently an assistant coach at California Baptist University, has been hired as head wrestling coach at Concordia University. He takes the place of former head coach Dana Vote.
