Back-to-back tournament titles have led to back-to-back GPAC awards for standout heavyweight Tanner Farmer. The native of Highland, Ill., won the 285-pound title at last week's Missouri Valley Invite.
Tanner Farmer is now 11-0 as a Bulldog after winning his second-straight tournament title. His exploits helped Concordia place 16th out of 48 teams at the loaded Missouri Valley Invite (Jan. 17-18).
A victory in a dual and a 285-pound tournament championship led to senior Tanner Farmer being named the GPAC Wrestler of the Week. Farmer is also now ranked the No. 1 heavyweight in the conference.
Tanner Farmer has made quite a first impression as a Bulldog. Two days after winning in a dual meet, Farmer was crowned the 285-pound champion of the Cusatis Open. He was one of 12 Concordia competitors at the tournament.
The highly anticipated debut for Tanner Farmer resulted in both personal and team victories on Thursday (Jan. 9). The 18th-ranked Bulldogs won seven matches while defeating Ottawa in a dual, 24-15.
The Concordia wrestling season is set to resume in 2020 with the Bulldogs welcoming Ottawa to Seward for a Thursday night dual. Concordia last appeared at the Desert Duals in Vegas on Dec. 22.
While taking part in the Desert Duals for the first time since 2014, the 17th-ranked Bulldogs split four duals against Cascade Collegiate Conference foes. Concordia defeated Vanguard and Life Pacific.
Demitrius Miller recorded one of several dominant victories in the 54 to -1 team win over Midland last week. His pin has earned him the GPAC Wrestler of the Week award, as announced on Dec. 18.
Vegas is next on the journey for the 19th-ranked Concordia wrestling team. The Bulldogs will be back at the Desert Duals for the first time since 2014. The event is held at the Flamingo Hotel in Vegas.
In a dual that lasted just 43 minutes, the 19th-ranked Bulldogs cruised to a 54 to -1 home victory over Midland on Friday (Dec. 13). Concordia won eight matches by bonus points while moving to 3-0 in GPAC duals.
The 2015-16 season was another step forward for the Concordia wrestling program, which finished eighth at the national championships and again dominated the GPAC.

Without even visiting campus, Jr Lule arrived at Concordia, a place where California junior college transfers like himself have thrived. Lule now enters the national championships on a roll.
“Don’t dwell on the results. Stay focused on the process.” That’s the company line continually regurgitated by members of the Concordia wrestling program. It’s that sort of attitude that has provided a foundation for the Bulldogs’ reversal of fortunes.
In yet another dominant outing in the conference, No. 7 Concordia clinched its second-straight GPAC dual title by way of a 32-7 win over Morningside on Feb. 11, 2016.
By just about any measure, the 2014-15 season marked the most successful in the history of Concordia University wrestling. In head coach Dana Vote’s third season, the Bulldogs went a perfect 7-0 in GPAC duals, outscoring their conference rivals by a combined total of 242-59.
Consider the time spent at Santa Ana College a crossroads. Muddled in southern California traffic jams, Andrew Schulte had plenty of time to ponder his next move.
The 2015 NAIA Wrestling National Championships came to a head in the afternoon on Saturday with four Bulldogs locking up spots on the medal stand as All-Americans.
