Prepped at Concordia Lutheran High School (Ind.) … coached by Scott Steffen … lettered three times … in cross country, earned all-conference honors three times, garnered all-state accolades as a senior, qualified for state twice, named team MVP twice, was a sectional and regional champion and was tabbed the Fort Wayne Runing Club Boys High School Runner of the Year … selected to Team Indiana All-Stars Cross Country … received Charles F. Maas Mental Attitude Award for cross country … part of teams that placed seventh in the state, won a regional championship and two sectional titles (cross country) … part of state qualifier in 4x800 relay … also competed in swimming for three years (three letters), served as a team captain, earned two all-conference awards and was named team’s most valuable swimmer as a junior … graduated with honors … member of National Honor Society … earned academic awards in German and Theology … DAR Good Citizen Award.
